Well today is the first day of Christmas Vacation. It was nice to sleep in. I feel very refreshed. I should be cleaning the house, I will do it later. So far we have been luck around here and have not been sick. I know there is a terrible flu going around. My neice's family all got it and my little great nephew was in the hospital for some fluids with it too.
My son woke up today and asked me "How many days more until Christmas Mom?" I said "Well there is 3 days." He is like, "Does that include today Mom or did you start counting from tomorrow?" He is so bright for an 8 year old boy! He says the cutest things sometimes.
We are very lucky that he is speaking so well. He has verbal/oral apraxia. You can read more about it here. www.apraxia-kids.org We have been down a very difficult road. But my son just doesn't give up. He has this driving force that God gave him to keep going no matter what. He also has a GREAT sense of humor which I know God gave him to help him through it all. It was so hard when he wasn't able to say anything and all of the other kids his age could talk. Mine was still throwing temper tantrums because we couldn't understand him. He would throw these fits because I couldn't understand what he wanted. It was very difficult. I think I am going to post some more blogs about this and go through our story. It will be good therapy for me to write it all down too. Please anyone out there reading this, if your child is delayed at all in speech, do not listen to your pediatrician and wait on your child, take him to the public school system or a private speech therapists and have him or her evaluated. You do not want to wait because you have to help them while there brain is "soft" -
I mean to write about Christmas and here I am going off on a different subject.
I think this year we have a lot to be thankful for. Our son is speaking beyond what we ever thought. Our daughter is very gifted and talented and has the ability to take a picture of anything, even a stop sign, and make it beautiful. My husband has a wonderful job, bosses you are wonderful too. And everyone is healthy.
Just a few more days til Christmas...
